Weather forecast using GNSS-R relies, to a large extent, on data acquired by airborne and spaceborne platforms due the extended coverage that can be achieved. GEO satellites retrieve measurements over areas but with spatial resolutions order of thousands meters per pixel. LEO polar orbits provide entire world, they cannot good or high temporal themselves. constellations small have same improved resolution revisit times fusion techniques. High-altitude pseudo-satellites offer an excellent only limited areas. In this article, potential hosted payloads commercial aircraft is explored as alternative cost-effective means achieve very low time for regional environmental applications. Finally, case study soil moisture monitoring Europe presented, including analysis expected performance.
